What is counselling?
Counselling is a place for you to explore any difficulties you may be facing in your life. It is a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space, which aims to help empower you in your life, and increase your sense of well-being.
Exploring your thoughts and feelings in a safe therapeutic relationship can help you understand and become more aware of what is happening in your life, and how you may like things to change.
Is it for me?
An assessment session is a good way to find out if counselling is for you. This will not commit you to anything but is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about it, and get a feel of whether you can work with your counsellor. You cannot be 'sent' for counselling - for it to work, there needs to be a desire and commitment from you to the therapeutic process.
How long and how often?
After a mutual assessment session, you will be offered a series of counselling sessions. I offer weekly sessions of 50 minutes. Usually we begin by contracting for a specific number of sessions, after which we will mutually review together whether to continue or finish the counselling. Some people will work on a short-term basis, some longer-term. Everyone is individual and so each person's needs are taken into account when looking at this.
How do I contact you?
